Sitting with Gratitude

How did everyone fare with the holiday weekend?

This might mark the very first time that I did not overeat on Thanksgiving!!
We had a lovely holiday.  We were able to share it with friends and with my brother in law.  Which was a treat as all of our families live in different states from us.

One of the things I have taken time to do today was to meditate on my gratitude.  To sit with my thankfulness and blessings in life.  So often that push comes only before Thanksgiving, and gives way to the holiday madness so quickly.  I found meditating on those things today to be a wonderful way to keep myself grounded with gratitude.  It was just a few short minutes, deeply breathing in and out, and pulling to mind only that which I am grateful for.  So simple, yet so enriching.

How do you stay grounded in gratitude during the holiday season?

I love my job.  I love helping people with aches and pain.  I like formulating treatment plans.  I love working in such a rewarding field.
That's what I am thankful for today!

I am thankful for having chosen to embrace the weather years ago!  How wonderful it is to acknowledge you have no power over the weather, and to give yourself over to it.  I enjoy the rain, the snow, the sun, the mud...

I'm also grateful for finding personal bravery to ask "What If"... Sometimes you can change the path you're going on just a smidgen to keep going where you want to go!

Today, I am thankful for my supportive husband... He let me pursue my dream of massaging.

And, for the Roanoke SBA office for being a free service to help entrepreneurs like me!

I'm thankful for kindness and acceptance.
It's always lovely to meet people that ask what I do for an occupation, and when I tell them my story they are supportive and tell me how brave following my heart and my dreams are!!

Today I am thankful for bright crisp mornings...
Somehow it doesn't seem quite as cold when the sun is shining.  And when it's crisp like this (20 degrees F) it seems like smells travel differently!

Off to walk the dog (with his cute little coat) with my husband and some coffee in to go mugs!

Happy Season of Thankfulness!

On Gratitude...

Oftentimes it can be so easy to take parts of our life, and our health, for granted.
To expect our health to always stay the same.
To expect our homes to stay in ship shape.
To expect our kids to remember their manners once they seem to have them down pat.
To expect our relationships once in place stay as happy as can be without upkeep.

Sadly... that's hardly the case.

Sometimes the simplest gestures of gratitude can be all it takes to help reinforce those things though.  Simply being grateful when your child behaves as you would like, and showing them you are grateful and appreciative.  This can serve as a loving reminder.
Or reaching out to that friend you haven't seen in a while and letting them know something about them that you are so grateful for.  They may remember that random kindness and gratitude just when they need uplifting most.
Even remembering to be grateful for the roof over your head and remembering to do the simple things to keep it maintained.

With the Season of Thankfulness upon us, what better time than to count our blessings than now!!

For the week leading up to Thanksgiving I will share things I am thankful for each day, and invite you to do the same!
